Fred Tabares, Art Teacher

1. Do you have any special talents?
I can play piano and saxophone but not at the same time. I also dabble on twin Technics SL 1200 Mk 11 turntables. “BRIKKA BRIKKA”

2. What’s your most embarrassing moment?
When I was in elementary school, we had a sit-up test and because it was raining, all of the overhead gym doors were down. This cute girl was holding down my ankles, and I totally farted. – it was so loud. She’s an assistant principal at Lake Travis High now.

3. What is the hardest thing you ever had to do?
Deal with heartbreak. …but we all do it at some point. How we choose to deal with it is what makes us men and women. I was lucky to have been surrounded by great people.

4. What scares you the most and why?
Any movie that has the word “movie” as the last word in its title. Seriously. Who green-lights this garbage? I can’t believe movie execs are willing to spend their money on those over and over again.

5. What do you do in your free time?
When I’m not drawing or painting, I love watching movies or letting my dog beat me at arm wrestling to boost her self confidence.

6. What is currently your favorite song?
I’ve been in a “Take 5” by Dave Brubeck mood lately. A lot of that has to do with the combined intensity of A.) the season B.) my part-time job, and C.) anxious teachers and students during the last week of the fall semester.

7. What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?

8. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I would meet with Bruce Lee. He was a Made man. Invented his own martial arts and worked hard. Being self made with the drive to work hard is lost on a lot of people today.

9. If you could mate two totally different animals together, what new animal would you create?
I know potatoes come from plants, but I would couple cows and potatoes so that way you cut out a lot of steps when making steaks and fries. Mmmm. That animal would be delicious.

10. What are your pet peeves?
I can’t abide by liars, cheaters and people who can’t own their mistakes. There is world of forgivable faults. These are among those that are nearly impossible to forgive.
